About Tara
Tara completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and is a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. Prior to pursuing counselling, Tara obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) from Cape Breton University where she completed a thesis which studied communication within healthcare settings. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Francis Xavier University and previously worked in palliative care.​
Whether you wish to move beyond past wounds, learn new methods of coping or to enrich relationships, Tara aims to be an active and supportive presence in your healing journey. She has a warm interpersonal style that balances attentiveness with directness and humour. Tara offers a secure and inviting environment in which you can explore and make sense of your experiences. Her practice is collaborative and all adults are welcome.
Approach
Tara strives to remain up to date with research and professional skills through ongoing continuing education. She has completed post-graduate education in modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Positive Neuroplasticity, Gottman Method Couples Therapy - Levels 1, 2, and Affairs and Trauma, and more.

Tara’s cumulative educational and employment experiences have led to a strong belief in the importance of integrative care and wellness. Her therapeutic approach uses a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities tailored to the individual needs of each client. The foundation of her work lies in building relationships where clients feel listened to and validated.
